This story starts many years ago (6 or 8 at least, can’t remember exactly) when I was working at home as a logistics/supply-chain and project management consultant. There was a storm outside and we were getting copious amounts of rain (before the latest drought here in California). I was checking the windows for leaks and I found water coming in through a window in my husband’s study. I called the contractor who had done some other work for us and he sent someone out to put plastic up over the windows which stopped the leak. A few days later, after the storm was over, they pulled out the wet wall around and below the window so it could all dry out. It has stayed that way and we’ve had new plastic put up every year until the past few weeks when we finally got the workers in to replace some windows (including the leaky one) and fix some other water damage around the house. If you’re wondering why I’m telling you this story it’s because I have wanted to get this work done for years and now that we’re doing it my whole world has been turned upside down. I haven’t been able to work on my blog or keep up on my Partnership to Success lessons and today I had to re-schedule dinner with some friends because of having to move more furniture out of the way for the workers. Whew! I didn’t think it was going to be this overwhelming! So, instead of being able to tell you about how much I am learning in my IM program I’m telling you about how I’m not getting work done on my blog and I’m trying to catchIMG_0169 up on my P2S program work. It seems that every time I start spending some concentrated time on my computer there is some question or issue that comes up breaking my concentration. Life just keeps rearing its head and taking over the day. Back to work now, I’ve started a very important time in the program as I am expected to be researching and ultimately deciding on what kind of product I will be developing over the next couple of months and I have absolutely no idea what to pick or do. I’ve looked at some of the products on JVZoo and Clickbank but nothing is connecting with me, nothing is making me so interested or excited that I want to spend this much time with it and selling it to prospective customers. In thinking about a product I’ve been trying to keep track of what kinds of questions I have had as I’ve been going down this road of blogging and product development. One thing that does make me crazy as I read all of the sales pages and the products themselves that I’ve bought – there are so many typos and incorrect words and grammar – don’t people reread their copy before they publish it? don’t affiliates read through the copy before they send it out to their lists? Some things that I do find interesting are product reviews, surveys, and a few of the different social media outlets like Pinterest, Reddit, and Instagram. My next step I think is to have a conversation with John Thornhill who is the mentor/teacher of the P2S program and who is supposed to be helping me to make this decision. I have reached out but haven’t been able to come up with a good time when we can talk this through – you see he is in the UK and I am in California… I’ll continue to keep plowing through this all and make myself as well-prepared as I can for when I am able to have my conversation with John. In the meantime, I am will keep myself under control and try to accomplish as much as I can sitting at my kitchen table surrounded by boxes of papers, books, desk stuff, and computer equipment. Just have to make it through the next month and all will be back in its place and my husband and I can get back to our regular lives. The moral of this story is that you have to be careful of what you wish for because you just may get it and when you do you better make the best of it while remembering that it will all be over one day soon. Then life will be better and you can move on with more ease and success. While I’m waiting to get out on the other side of this period of time I would love to hear from you as to what kinds of issues or problems you are having with your blogs, websites, and/or internet products. Leave me a comment suggesting some areas where I should look to develop a new product that will help solve your problems and make your life easier! Thanks!!

    • Oh my goodness, we have a house problem that has been going on for a couple years, too. And now that we’ve bit the bullet to fix it, it also feels like we are scrambling. We’re doing it ourselves — digging trenches in August in south GA is no fun! I understand feeling bogged down with house and blog and job and other daily things.

Sometimes it helps to remember that there are seasons. I need to let go of some things that will allow this to be Fix Your Home season, haha. Thank you for the reminder.

Rebekah – thank you for your comment! I like your idea of looking at this as our Fix Your Home season! I also keep reminding myself of how much nicer the house will be with new windows that work, new paint on the outside of the house, etc. I am in California and the weather (at least where we are) is a lot cooler than what you get in GA, so that too is something to be thankful for. I can’t imagine doing the work ourselves, you are much more ambitious (and talented) than we are!

Hi Susan! I just started my blog this year and began with a simple and free theme from WordPress. Last week I purchased a theme and have desperately been trying to gather enough information from various places to customize the look of my site. WordPress has some great 101 videos they share, but they stop short of seeing you through the complete process with ending their video series. I have muddled through the process, but it would be nice to have an all-inclusive place to go.

Sherri – thanks for checking out my blog and leaving a comment. I only started my blog this year as well but I have been in a mentoring program where I have gotten videos to follow and a FB group to be a part of to get feedback/answers. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t had to figure somethings out for myself but I am finding it to be helpful in the long run.
