Last night I was working on my blog, adding the square buttons below the opt-in widget so readers can also connect to me through my social media pages, and I did something really stupid – I tried to change something in my blog’s General Settings that I shouldn’t be changing, namely the website URL. When I hit Save Changes WordPress didn’t give me a message to stop and not do that it just went ahead and tried to do it. Oh My God! Next thing I knew WP threw me off of the site and gave me a 500 Internal Server Error. I couldn’t log back in – just kept getting a screen with the error message and when I tried to access my blog site it was there but there was no formatting…   I have to admit that I freaked out for a couple of minutes. When I calmed down a bit I logged into my hosting site (D9 Solutions) and submitted a ticket to the 24/7 technical support which included what I’d done, when it happened, the full message that I had received, along with the word Help! in the subject line. About 15 minutes later I received a system generated email confirming that a support ticket had been created. Then I sat down with my husband to watch 2 more episodes of Mr. Robot – I mean you have to do something interesting to keep your mind occupied while you wait and Mr. Robot seemed rather appropriate actually. I kept checking my email and 20 minutes (10:27 pm PDT) later I got an email from the tech on duty saying that he would take a look at it and see what he could do. I kept checking my email until I finally went to bed a little after 12:30 pm. I woke up very early this morning and lay awake for 15-20 minutes wondering whether I would get my blogsite back or if I was going to have to start all over again and realized that I hadn’t kept copies of my already published blogposts. Finally, I knew that I wouldn’t get back to sleep without knowing what, if anything, had happened while I was asleep. I went into the other room, picked up my phone, and updated my email app – there it was, an email from tech support which came in 15 minutes after I went to bed.

This has been fixed. Please check it now.

Yeah!!! I was saved!!! So, I went back to sleep and swore that I would backup my blog from now on – now I just have to find out how to do that….
